Prism Arts is part of leadership scheme for learning-disabled and autistic creatives, Transforming Leadership, launching June 2023.
A leadership scheme for learning-disabled and autistic creatives has been launched in partnership with venues including Battersea Arts Centre in London, Leeds Playhouse and Derby Theatre.
Access All Areas, a company that makes theatre by learning-disabled and autistic artists, is behind the Transforming Leadership initiative, which launches on June 19 to coincide Learning Disability Week.
The scheme will see creatives from Access All Areas co-deliver leadership training for 14 other learning-disabled and autistic creatives from seven companies across the UK.
They will focus on directing skills, how to lead community arts programmes, governance and advocacy skills.
Access All Areas will also train staff at eight partner venues in inclusive practice, which will focus on creating more accessible workplaces and supporting companies to prepare for learning-disabled and autistic leadership at executive and board levels.
Disability arts organisations involved in the programme will team up with local venues to share learning and build artistic communities that are more inclusive of learning-disabled and autistic participants, staff and audiences.
We are hugely excited to be a part of this project, which we’re looking forward to launching for Learning Disability Week in June. We’re very excited to share more about it when we launch!
