An intergenerational celebration of storytelling
Studio Theatre toured their theatre production, Shadow Tales, in 2017.
Folk tales, the Ramayana from India and King Arthur from England are entwined as the story explores the relationship between Britain and India in the 1860s.
It is a mixture of live action, shadow theatre, puppetry, and storytelling.
It was performed at Rosehill Theatre, Whitehaven, Old Fire Station, Carlisle, Theatre by the Lake, Keswick and The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal.
“Fantastic fusion of colour, storytelling, cultural exchange delivered beautifully, very enjoyable. I thought it was excellent and great to see exploration of this subject matter.” – Jules Wooding
“Visually great, the humour and storytelling was second to none. Really got the flavour of India. Seriously did not want this to end. A very ambitious production that really worked – congratulations to all!” – Gail
This tour was made possible by all the amazing people who supported a Crowdfunder and Heritage Lottery Fund who provided match funding.
