Inclusive Arts and University Partnerships

When: Tuesday July 5 2022 (public) and Wednesday July 6 2022 (invite only)

Location: University of Cumbria Brampton Road Campus

In July 2022, Prism Arts hosted Step Up Step Forward, a first of its kind symposium event to explore how learning disabled and autistic artists can enjoy access to learning opportunities and develop as artists in higher education settings. This two-day event was held at the University of Cumbria Brampton Road Campus. The first day was open to the public and consisted of active sharing activities, workshops and presentations by artists.

We teamed up with the University of Cumbria Institute of Arts, to deliver a symposium event showcasing inclusive arts in further and higher education.

We welcomed to Carlisle nationally recognised arts organisations including Mind the Gap, Access All Areas and Heart n Soul, who presented their experience of working within inclusive arts and higher education alongside Prism Arts and the University of Cumbria.

AUDIO ADVENTURE

Wearing headsets, guests were guided throughout the University Campus using audio interviews of Prism Artists conducted by producer Stefan Escreet.

COLLABORATIVE WORKSHOPS

Prism Artists Jyma, Tom, Annie and Catherine, as well as UoC fine art graduates Cai and Amber hosted workshops which engaged guests with their process and interests.
