(September 25, 2024) We’re excited to announce the launch of the Prism Artist Takeover this October, a pilot artist residency and training programme set to unfold at Central Methodist Hall, Carlisle. This initiative represents a significant step forward in our mission to cultivate artistic talent while championing inclusive arts practices across West Cumberland.
A Collaborative Training Residency
The Prism Artist Takeover will pair five emerging trainee artists who are keen to develop new inclusive arts practice skills that will support their future work across West Cumberland. To achieve this, they will work with four experienced creative mentors at our Prism base in Carlisle. These artists will be supported by bursaries allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the programme. Through close collaboration with Prism Studio Programmes, they will embark on a journey of creative development, skill-building, and professional growth.
The Residency Team:
Four Residency Mentor Artists: These are experienced field specialists with a strong background in inclusive practice and a history of collaboration with Prism.

A Final Sharing Event: December 6th & 7th
The residency will culminate on a 2-day final sharing event on Friday 6th – Saturday 7th of December, designed to boost public engagement and showcase the incredible work produced during the programme. This event will be a pivotal moment for both the artists and the community, highlighting the powerful role inclusive arts can play in inspiring and connecting people.
