In 1918, the Representation of the People Act gave the first British women the right to vote and stand for public office. One hundred years on, Artichoke invited women and girls across the UK to come and mark the historic moment. On Sunday 10th of June, women and girls in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London walked together as part of this celebratory mass participation artwork. Wearing either green, white or violet, the colours of the suffrage movement, the PROCESSIONS appeared as a flowing river of colour through the city streets.

One hundred female artists were commissioned to work with organisations and communities across the UK to create one hundred centenary banners. Prism Arts were chosen to be one those organisations.

We ran a series of workshops in our Carlisle studio for the public to create a banner which was part of the Carlisle Puppet Pageant, the Edinburgh procession and was then sent to London to join other banners on exhibition.
